Inspirational lecture by Dr. Randy Pausch

March 10, 2008

Dr [Randy Pausch](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Pausch) has been diagnosed with terminal [pancreatic cancer](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_cancer) and was told in August 2007 to expect a remaining three to six months of good health.

This talk was modeled after an ongoing series of lectures where top academics are asked to think deeply about what matters to them, and then give a hypothetical “final talk”, i.e., “what wisdom would you try to impart to the world if you knew it was your last chance?”

In this video, he reprises that talk…

Reminds me of a quote from a certain movie. When times are bad and we wish something had never happened, it’s not something we have to decide…

> “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
